DIGITAL EVENT: THE EVOLUTION OF HIV TREATMENT: THEN AND NOW

February 4, 2021

12 to 1:30 p.m. EST

The power of HIV antiretroviral therapy (ART) today is so profound that with proper treatment and care, most people with HIV can stay healthy and live a long and full life. Treatment also significantly reduces the risk of transmission, and people on effective HIV treatment can’t pass it on to a sexual partner.

However, making treatment accessible and as safe as possible is critical to ending the HIV epidemic. Frontline service providers play a crucial role in supporting clients to understand HIV treatment and start, stay on, and – when necessary – change treatments.

This webinar will look at the evolution of HIV treatment from the first licensed drug, AZT, to highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART), to new dual therapies and injectable formulations on the horizon. It will also explore critical considerations for people living with HIV in terms of starting, staying on and changing HIV treatment.
